Committees and Working Group

At Women in Internet Governance (WIG), we believe in teamwork and collaboration to drive meaningful change. To ensure effective participation, we organize our work into Working Groups, where members come together to focus on specific areas of internet governance and digital inclusion.

Role of Working Groups

Working Groups are small teams that focus on different aspects of WIG’s work. They provide a platform for members to contribute their skills, share ideas, and take part in projects that align with their interests and expertise.

Each Working Group:

  • Focuses on a specific area of internet governance.
  • Encourages collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
  • Works on projects, advocacy, and community engagement.
  • Helps members build skills and gain experience.

What Do Working Groups Do?

  1. Identify Issues – Discuss key challenges affecting women in internet governance and digital spaces.
  2. Develop Initiatives – Create programs, campaigns, and policies to address these issues.
  3. Conduct Research – Gather and analyze information to support evidence-based advocacy.
  4. Organize Events – Plan workshops, mentorship sessions, and networking opportunities.
  5. Engage Stakeholders – Work with policymakers, organizations, and communities to drive change.
  6. Advocate for Inclusion – Push for gender equity in internet governance spaces.
  7. Mentorship & Capacity Building – Support women and young girls in building careers in internet governance.

How Working Groups Operate

  • Groups meet regularly to discuss progress and set goals.
  • Members take on different roles based on their skills and interests.
  • Some projects may require collaboration between multiple groups.
  • Updates and reports are shared with the broader WIG community.

Why Join a Working Group?

  • Get hands-on experience in internet governance.
  • Connect with like-minded individuals.
  • Contribute to policies and initiatives that create real impact.
  • Develop leadership, advocacy, and technical skills.
