Any woman located all over the world can join

Is there an age limit?

There is no age limit as long as you have the legal age as it applies in your country.

What is the requirements of membership

Must be a woman and actively engaging in the Internet Governance ecosystem.

Does my membership expire?

Membership is voluntary and does not expire, unless the person decides not to be a member any longer. Or unless the Disciplinary Committee finds the person unworthy as a member by breaking the Code of Conduct.

Can a member rejoin after exiting or losing membership?

Anyone who resigns as a member can reapply for membership but must wait for at least 12 months before applying to become a member again. Anyone who is removed based on misconduct, must wait for 12 months before applying to become a member. Such an applicant, if approved, must sign a bond of good behaviour.

Is there a membership fee?

Membership at the moment is free of charge. However, members are free to make donations if they so desire.

How do I volunteer?

Any member is welcome to volunteer. Please contact us on this email engage@womeninig.org. Also complete the volunteers application form in order to volunteer.

Is membership limited to a geographic location?

Every lady around the world is welcomed to join, as long as she is engaging in the Internet Governance ecosystem.

Objectives of membership?

The purpose of the Women in Internet Governance is to bring all women engaging in Internet governance globally together under one umbrella.

Where do I start if I am new to Internet governance?

We expect our members to have a fair knowledge about Internet governance. However, if you are totally new to Internet governance, there are several ways to start engaging. These include enrolling in an Internet Governance School near you, or taking introductory courses from ICANN Learn portal, ISOC Learn portal among others. Our Newcomers Working Group (NWG) will also give you a fair walkthrough to help you with your entry engagements efforts.

What are the benefits of being a member?

There are several benefits for becoming a member. This includes being able to connect with other professionals in the field from across the world. You will also get the opportunity to Mentor or be mentored to be able to give back to the community. Publicity will also be given to members.

Will my membership be affected if I relocate to a different region?

Membership at this stage is for everyone in any part of the world. You can engage from wherever you are located.

What is the medium of communication for members?

English is the common language to be used among members. However, all other language speakers are welcomed to join, and where resources permit translation services will be provided.

Is membership only limited to women?

As the name implies, Women in Internet Governance, hence, membership is strictly for only women!

Is there a way to keep updated with news?

Every member will be added to the general members mailing list.
